Chapel of Rest Viewings

We have our Chapel of Rest located within our funeral home, so families and friends can see their loved one whilst they are resting in our care. This is available for all funeral packages we offer, which is comforting for many people. It is not for everybody and sometimes seeing a loved one as deceased can be distressing. These are common ways in which we can help make a Chapel visit the most comforting and peaceful experience it can be:

We allow as much time as you need: There is absolutely no rush at any point during your visit - you don't have to go into the Chapel straight away, we will be there with you if you wish to compose yourself or have a moment before seeing your loved one. We know it can be daunting and the fear of the unknown is scary for many. You can also spend as much time during your visit as you wish - sometimes people only wish to spend a few minutes, whereas some like to stay for hours. This is your time and we will never rush you

Refreshments: We offer hot and cold drinks so you can feel relaxed and comfortable during your visit. You are welcome to have this in our arranging room or with your loved one in the Chapel

Personal effects: During funeral arrangements, we will ask questions to ensure Chapel of Rest visits are personal and appropriate to each family. For example, if the deceased had a favourite flower, we would place these in a varse during the visit. Music from a playlist or of a certain Artist can also be played throughout, including classical music. We can also spray deoderant or perfume which you associate with the deceased, if desired. We ask for a photo during arrangements to ensure we present the deceased as accurately to their appearance as possible, including to replicate hairstyle or makeup. We also can dress them in clothes provided by the family, or one of our gowns.

We are here for you: We will stay in the arranging room for the entire time of your visit, so if you need us we are there for you straight away. If you feel anxious about going to the Chapel, we can go in with you and give you the support you need. You have the option of staying with them on your own, with family, friends, or we can stay in the Chapel with you -  whatever makes you feel the most comfortable

Weekend and evening appointments: We offer Chapel visits flexibly, allowing for evening or weekend visits if during the week isn't suitable because of commitments. This means that people who work long hours or cannot get to us during the day in the week can still have the opportunity to visit. Multiple visits can also be arranged with the consent of our client. There is no extra cost for booking an out-of-hours Chapel of Rest visit
